EDISON, N.J. (Jan. 6, 2021) – Iona College’s Isaiah Ross and Fairfield University’s Katie Armstrong have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Senior Isaiah Ross has been voted the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week three times this season. He is only the seventh student-athlete in Iona College history to earn three weekly awards and the first since A.J. English in 2015-16.
 
Through eight games this season, Ross is averaging a team and conference-leading 22.3 points per game. The senior Preseason All-MAAC Second Team member has proven his mettle thus far this season with five games of 20+ points. Ross scored a career-high 33 points in Iona’s first win of the season at Hofstra on Dec. 5.
 
From an efficiency standpoint, Ross is shooting 50.8 percent from the floor and 42.4 percent from beyond the arc. He has three games this season where he has hit at least five three-point field goals.
 
As of the new year, the Maroon and Gold have the second highest scoring offense in the league averaging 70.9 points per game. The Gaels also have the fourth ranked defense allowing 67.1 points per game.

An All-MAAC Second Team selection in 2019-20, Katie Armstrong has continued her strong play throughout the Stags’ 5-1 start to the current campaign – including a 4-0 MAAC tally in which Fairfield has won four road contests by double figures. She is currently averaging 12.3 points per game and ranks ninth in the MAAC with a team-leading 7.7 rebounds per outing.
 
Academically, Armstrong completed her undergraduate studies this past May, earning a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience. A Dean’s List student and MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, she is currently pursuing an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the University.
