Fairfield's Julie Brzezinski Signs New Contract through 2024 Campaign
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Head Softball Coach
Julie Brzezinski will continue to coach the Stags through the 2024 season after signing a new contract. The announcement was made by Director of Athletics
Paul Schlickmann on Monday.
"For 25 years,
Julie Brzezinski has been the face of Fairfield Softball. Her teams have been consistent contenders for MAAC Championships under her steady and skillful leadership," said Schlickmann. "Coach Brzezinski operates with integrity in everything she does, embodies the core values we espouse and fosters those same values with the young women in her program. She has a proven track record of recruiting and developing student-athletes who achieve competitively, academically, and in their professional and personal endeavors after graduation. We share high expectations for the program and are excited to see what the future holds for Stags Softball with Coach B. continuing at the helm."
Brzezinski has the most wins in school softball history, posting 628 victories in her 24 seasons at the helm. The Stags have won 20 or more contests each season under her guidance which includes six campaigns with 30-plus victories. Fairfield advanced to the NCAA Softball Championship for the first time under Brzezinski's tutelage in 2015, an accomplishment the program repeated in 2017. She captured three MAAC Coach of the Year awards, earning the honor in 2012, 2004, and 2002.

Paul Schlickmann, and the entire athletics department for the continued commitment they have made to the softball program, our staff, and our student-athletes," Coach Brzezinski said. "I am truly humbled by the support I've received for the last 25 years. It's a great time to be a Stag and we are excited as we prepare for the 2022 season."
Brzezinski has coached five Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Players of the Year, seven MAAC Pitchers of the Year, one MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, and one MAAC Rookie of the Year. In the classroom, Fairfield was represented on the MAAC All-Academic team by more than 60 student-athletes over the last 24 seasons.
Brzezinski came to Fairfield with eight years of experience, coaching at Campbell University in North Carolina. Brzezinski led the Fighting Camels to two Big South Conference championships (1993 and 1994), one Trans Atlantic Conference title (1995), and one TAAC runner-up finish (1996). Campbell advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament during her tenure. She registered a 245-195 record in her eight years.

Brzezinski graduated from Furman University in 1989, earning a bachelor of arts degree in business administration. She received a master's degree in education from Campbell in 1992. She was four-year softball student-athlete while at Furman.
