Siena’s Mahala and Saint Peter’s Geck Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

EDISON, NJ (Feb. 24, 2021) –Siena College’s Robert Mahala and Saint Peter’s University’s Marie-Christine Geck have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

A walk-on who has spent that last two seasons as a member of the Saints, Mahala was appointed a team co-captain prior to the 2020-21 season and has made appearances in three contests this season. The Jackson, New Jersey native made six appearances off the bench during the 2019-20 campaign and scored his first collegiate points in Siena's win over Quinnipiac on January 26, 2020.
 
A two-time member of the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and a MAAC All-Academic Team member in 2020, Mahala holds a 3.56 cumulative GPA in business, and posted an impressive 3.86 mark during the Spring 2020 semester. He serves as a member of Siena's Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), and was honored as Siena's Male Leo Dufort Student Athlete of the Month for January 2021.

Women’s Swimming
Geck, a freestyle and 200-fly swimmer, is coming off a stellar junior campaign last year with the Peacocks, in which she competed in seven meets. The Germany native posted several top-two finishes during the 2019-20 circuit, earning a pair of event victories against Pace. She had two runner-up finishes in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle races against Manhattan, and had the same results at the US Merchant Marine Academy Invitational. She also recorded a fourth-place finish at the 2019-20 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships in the 1650-yard freestyle, clocking in at 17:23.96.
