MAAC Men’s Basketball Schedule Update
EDISON, N.J. (Feb. 8, 2021) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced changes in the 2020-21 men’s basketball conference schedule due to COVID-19 disruptions. There have been over 140 schedule changes for men’s basketball to date.
In addition, the MAAC has implemented new tiebreaking procedures for the 2020-21 season for both men’s and women’s basketball that were agreed upon in the preseason by coaches, sports committees, and the Committee on Athletic Administration (COAA). The tiebreaking procedures are now in effect as it’s official that not all MAAC teams will reach the originally scheduled 20 conference game mark.
Per the new tiebreakers, approved by the COAA and ratified by the MAAC Council of Presidents, the guiding principle when determining MAAC Championship seeding will be based on overall conference regular season wins – not including any third games scheduled between teams in lieu of non-conference opponents. As the MAAC enters the final month of the season the top teams on the men’s side are Monmouth, Siena, and Marist, followed by Saint Peter’s and Niagara. Full standings can be found by clicking

“I want to commend all the men’s and women’s basketball teams for their cooperation in rescheduling contests and continuing a high level of play in a difficult pandemic environment,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “The MAAC membership recognized early in the fall the need for tiebreakers that would work in an environment where not all teams would have full schedules to evaluate their seeding placement in the upcoming MAAC Hercules Tires Basketball Championships in Atlantic City. Accomplishing this process in the preseason allowed for collegial discussions and outcomes before any games were actually being played.”
