EDISON, N.J. (Mar. 6, 2021)– Today the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) welcomed back many fall and springs sports that were delayed due to COVID-19 precautions. This week kicks off the season’s for Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Water Polo, Rowing, and Volleyball. MAAC Tennis and Golf action is underway with a couple matches already taking place. Baseball, Softball, and Track and Field are all set to get underway later in the month.

“It is great that we are back with our spring and fall sports. Almost all of our sports have had over a year layoff, so we are happy for the athletes to have the opportunity to do what they love to do” MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor said. “The MAAC continues to work with health and state officials to make sure that we are doing everything we can to ensure these student athletes are staying as healthy as possible. In addition to testing, the institution affirms its student-athletes, coaches, staff, and others involved with intercollegiate athletics at the institution are observing risk mitigation activities such as daily self-health checks, frequent washing of hands, wearing masks, social distancing, and other protocols as recommended by the CDC, state, and local health authorities.”

Ensor added “Yesterday we kicked off the MAAC Championship season with the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships. It was great to be back out and running championships. We look forward to the upcoming week of Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships in Atlantic City and putting on more first-class events for all of the remaining Spring Championships.”
