Rider Volleyball Concludes Season in First Round of NCAA Tournament

NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship – First Round

Rider University (7-5, 4-4 MAAC) fell by a final score of 3-0 to UCLA (15-6, 14-6 Pac-12) in the First Round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. The Broncs, winners of the 2020-21 MAAC Volleyball Championship, made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1996. This was their first NCAA Tournament game as a representative of the MAAC.
 
Rider Notes
  • After dropping the first three points to open the match, the Broncs would push back with a 5-3 run to pull within one point, 6-5. Morgan Koch recorded two kills in that stretch. Rider would drop the first set, 25-12.
  • Rider would drop the next two sets, 25-8 and 25-9.
  • Morgan Romano, the 2020-21 MAAC Player of the Year, finished the evening with four kills, two digs, and 4.0 Points.
  • Anilee Sher, the 2020-21 MAAC Co-Setter of the Year, led the team with 13 assists
  • Romano, Caprice Clarke, and Ali Ward tied for the team lead in kills with four
  • Clarke’s 4.5 points led the Broncs.
  • Clarke and Jillian Chan each registered one block for Rider
  • Danielle Blanco recorded a team-leading six digs
