Quinnipiac and Siena to Play for 2021 MAAC Women’s Tennis Championship Title

WEST WINDSOR, NJ (April 24, 2021) – The 2021 Women’s Tennis Championship Match has been determined, with No. 1 Quinnipiac University advancing to take on No. 3 Siena College tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. 
 
Quinnipiac University (9-4, 6-0 MAAC) defeated Niagara University (4-8, 2-4 MAAC), 4-1 to advance to their seventh consecutive championship match. The Bobcats dropped the doubles point as Niagara’s Madigan Humiston and Coral Rodriguez defeated Dominique Vasile and Stephanie Yanosov, 6-3, and Kirah Regales and Erika Gonzalez beat Quinnipiac’s Andie Williams and Madison Williams 7-5. The Bobcats would then go on to win four straight singles matches to take the match. The wins came from Claire Koscielski over Elena Mayet 6-2, 6-3, Kamilla Nella over Rodriguez 6-1, 6-1, Vasile over Gonzalez 6-1, 6-0, and the final victory was Stephanie Yanosov over Megan Gamble 6-2, 7-6. Quinnipiac will be searching for their sixth MAAC Title in seven tournaments.
 
Siena College (6-3, 3-2 MAAC) defeated Fairfield University, 4-1 to advance to the MAAC Championship Match. It is the Saints first championship match appearance since 2017. After splitting the first two doubles matches, the Saints’ Meagan Brown and Kylie Mullaney defeated Fairfield’s Scarlett Hutchinson and Francesca Karman, 6-4, to take the doubles point. The Saints would then go to win three of the four singles matches with their first win coming from Anastasia Koniaev defeating Anna Komer 6-2, 6-2. Maanya Viswanath of Siena would then beat Fairfield’s Karman 6-4, 6-1. The Stags Hutchinson would earn Fairfield’s only point defeating Petra Miszcak 6-1, 7-5. Siena’s Brown would then secure their championship match berth by defeating the Stags Amanda Nowak 6-3, 6-4. The Saints will be searching for their first championship since 2006 when they take on the Bobcats for the MAAC Championship tomorrow.
 
The 2021 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Championship will be held at Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, New Jersey.
