Saint Peter's KC Ndefo Named NCAA Division I Statistical Champion in Blocked Shots
JERSEY CITY, NJ - With the 2020-21 season concluding on Monday, Saint Peter's junior forward KC Ndefo led all of NCAA Division I in blocked shots, according to the NCAA annual
final stats released on Tuesday. Ndefo finished his stellar junior campaign averaging 3.64 blocks per game, edging distant second place finisher, seven-footer Dajour Dickens of Hampton who averaged 3.38 rejections.
Ndefo collects the program's first ever NCAA Annual Individual Champion award for blocked shots, Saint Peter's third overall, joining Peacock Hall of Famer Keydren "Kee Kee" Clark who was the nations back-to-back scoring champion in 2003-04 and 2004-05. The Elmont, NY native is the second player from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) to lead the nation in blocks, the first since Fairfield's Deng Gai in 2004-05.
Standing at just under 6-foot-7, Ndefo was the shortest player to appear on the nation's list of top shot blockers through the first 37 candidates and he was one of just four total players shorter than 6-foot-7 to rank top-50 in blocks in the entire country. Moreover, he is the shortest player to top the country in blocked shots average since Northwestern State's William Mosley in 2010-11, who also stood at 6-foot-7.
Ndefo adds this award to an already overflowing trophy case after garnering unanimous MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and Lefty Driesell Defensive All-American Team honors. He was also unanimously named to the All-MAAC First Team, made the MAAC All-Championship Team, and NABC All-District Second Team during the 2020-21 slate.
