Rider’s Moreno and Saint Peter’s King Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

EDISON, N.J. (Mar. 31, 2021) – Rider’s Lani Moreno and Saint Peter’s Jayaire King have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Moreno is hitting a team-best .455 as the Broncs have posted vast improvement this season at 8-4 after being picked 10th out of 11 teams in the MAAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. She’s posted a .520 on-base percentage, five RBI’s and three runs scored. In the classroom, her numbers are even more impressive with a 3.92 grade-point average as a criminal justice major.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field
 
The sprinter/hurdler, Jayaire King, began his outdoor season with a tremendous performance at the Charles E. Davis Relays at Lincoln Park on March 27. He made his season debut in the 400 hurdles and won the race by clocking in at 54.77 seconds. The time is currently second-fastest in the MAAC and three seconds faster than the third-fastest time. King was also a part of the victorious 4x400 meter relay team that finished in 3:30.13. The time is currently third-best in the conference in the young outdoor season. King and the Peacocks are back in action today at Lincoln Park for the first day of the Peacock Outdoor Invitational.
