Marist men's basketball won its season opener in a back and forth affair against American, that produced 18 lead changes and 13 ties on Wednesday at McCann Arena, winning 73-69. Kam Farris led the Red Foxes, scoring 20 points in his Marist debut, shooting 70 percent from the field (7-for-10) and a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc. Patrick Gardner added 19 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the field, while three other Red Foxes scored eight or more points.
The 2022-23 campaign culminates with the 2023 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 7-11 at Atlantic City's Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall for the fourth consecutive year.
