EDISON, NJ (Nov. 13, 2022) – Three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball teams picked up wins on Saturday, headlined by Canisius College and Siena College scoring impressive wins over their respective rivals. Canisius topped rival St. Bonaventure in overtime, while Siena dominated the second-half to earn the Albany Cup.

Canisius College men’s basketball knocked off long-time rival St. Bonaventure, 84-80, in overtime on Saturday night at the Koessler Athletic Center. The win moved Canisius to 1-1 on the young season. Graduate student Jordan Henderson scored 15 of his 19 points in the game's second half and overtime period and sophomore Xzavier Long posted a career-high 19 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Griffs were senior Jacco Fritz adding 12 points off the bench, while redshirt-freshman Tahj Staveskie scored 11 points, with nine of those coming in the overtime session and graduate student Jamir Moultrie chipped in with 10 points.

Rider University men's basketball coasted to an 87-50 win over local foe The College of New Jersey, 87-50, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gym. Dwight Murray, Jr. led three Broncs in double figures, scoring 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Allen Powell scored 14 points and Tariq Ingraham scored 10 points. The win was the first of the season by Rider as the Broncs evened their record at 1-1.

Siena men’s basketball erased a 16-point second half deficit, taking a lead as high as 15 points to reclaim the Albany Cup with a 75-62 triumph over UAlbany in front of 9,561 fans at MVP Arena. Siena, which improved to 2-0, outscored their crosstown rivals 41-12 over the final 15:47 in the victory. Javian McCollum led the way with his second straight 20-point performance on 5-9 shooting including a perfect 3-3 from distance, while Andrew Platek scored 15 points and Jackson Stormo added 12 points and eight rebounds in his season debut.
