MAAC Men’s Basketball Records 2-0 Night with Wins from Iona and Saint Peter’s in Out of Conference Play

EDISON, NJ (Dec. 14, 2022) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball recorded a perfect 2-0 Tuesday night with wins by Iona University and Saint Peter’s University in non-conference action. The Gaels continued their hot streak, taking down Ivy League power Princeton in the Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge. The Peacocks snapped a three-game skid, knocking off Hartford on the road by one point.

Iona men's basketball topped Princeton, 70-64, in non-conference action at a neutral site in the Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge at Kean University's Harwood Arena. The Gaels erased a 10-point second half deficit to secure their fifth straight win and improve to 7-2 on the season. Sophomore Walter Clayton Jr. and junior Daniss Jenkins each had 20 points in the game to lead the Iona, while Nelly Junior Joseph added 10 points. Proceeds from the event benefited the American Cancer Society.

Saint Peter's got by Hartford, 58-57 on the road in non-conference action on Tuesday night. The win ended a three-game losing streak for the Peacocks and was the first road victory of the season for the team. Isiah Dasher scored a game-high 23 points in the victory to lead Saint Peter’s.
