Canisius Claims 2022 MAAC Baseball Championship Title; Fourth in Program History

GAME 10: No. 3 Canisius - 9 | No. 5 Rider - 5
CLOVER STADIUM | POMONA, NY

Box Score

Throughout the 2022 MAAC Baseball Championships, Canisius did most of their damage offensively throughout the middle innings. After being tied at two heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Canisius offense finally erupted for five runs in the fifth. The Griffs strung three singles together by Henneman, DeStefano, and Grant to get the inning going. Mike Steffan singled through the right side to score two, which brought up Vinny Chiarenza who walked to re-load the bases, which was followed by a walk to Dylan Vincent to bring home their third run. Gibson Krzeminski singled through the right side to plate Steffan and Chiarenza.

The Griffs tacked on two more runs in the eighth by way of a Max Grant single to score pinch runner Jackson Strong and a Mike Steffan sacrifice fly to score Mike DeStefano.

Peyton Consigli came on to pitch the ninth, got into some trouble and allowed three runs, but it was too late for the Broncs as Consigli induced a ground ball to third base that Krzeminski fielded cleanly and fired to Chiarenza, placing the final stamp on Canisius’ 2022 MAAC Baseball Championship run.
