Gardner averaged 28.5 points on .710 shooting from the field and a .909 mark from the free-throw line as Marist swept the Canisius/Niagara trip for the second time in program history and first time in eight years. On Friday at Canisius, Gardner had 26 points and four rebounds while shooting 11-for-15 from the field, 1-for-3 from three-point range, and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. On Sunday at Niagara, his 31 points were the most scored by a Red Fox this season in the team's 66-64 win. Gardner hit the game-winning shot with 6.8 seconds remaining, and scored Marist's final nine points in the last 2:24. He shot 11-for-16 from the field, 2-for-6 from three-point range, and 7-for-8 from three-point range.
Rookie of the Week
Isaiah Brickner, Marist
Fr., San Diego, CA, Saint Augustine
Brickner averaged 7.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds while shooting .500 from the field, .500 from three-point range, and 1.000 from the free-throw line as Marist swept the Canisius/Niagara for the second time in its history and first time in the last eight years. At Canisius on Friday, Brickner had a career-high eight assists, scored nine points, had five rebounds, and added one steal. He shot 7-for-7 from the free-throw line to extend his streak of consecutive made free throws to 28. Brickner helped the Red Foxes achieve the highest point total, field goal percentage, and margin of victory at Canisius. At Niagara on Sunday, he had five points, a team-leading five rebounds, and tied for the team lead with two assists. He shot 2-for-3 from the field and drained his only three-point attempts.
