2023-24 MAAC Men’s Basketball Season Begins Tonight

EDISON, NJ (Nov. 6, 2023) – The 2023-24 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball regular season tips-off today, Monday, November 6 with nine teams taking the floor in primetime. Overall, all 11 member schools will be in action during opening week.
Monday’s slate starts with a quartet of contests at 7:00 p.m., a trio tipping-off at 7:30 p.m., and the night concluding with a pair of games at 8:00 p.m.

The 7:00 p.m. group includes defending MAAC Champion, Iona University, Niagara University, Rider University, and Siena College. The Gaels travel south to take on CAA powerhouse and defending champion, Charleston at TD Arena in Charleston, SC for the first game of a home-home series that will conclude in New Rochelle in 2024-25. The Purple Eagles visit South Bend, IN for a meeting against Notre Dame from Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center for the fourth all-time meeting between the sides. The MAAC preseason favorite, Broncs, are set to host Immaculata from Alumni Gym in Lawrenceville, NJ, for the first ever game between Rider and the Division III program. The Saints will also have their season-opener at home, welcoming Holy Cross to MVP Arena in Albany, NY for the seventh straight meeting between the schools in non-conference play.
 
Taking the hardwood at 7:30 p.m. are Manhattan College, Quinnipiac University, and Saint Peter’s University. The Jaspers travel to Smithfield, RI for the backend of a home-home series versus Bryant, after the two met last season in Riverdale. The Peacocks will renew their rivalry with in-state Big East foe, Seton Hall in South Orange, NJ at the Prudential Center, taking on former head coach Shaheen Holloway, who led Saint Peter’s to its historic Elite Eight run in 2022. The Bobcats will start their campaign in Hamden, CT at M&T Bank Arena, with Coast Guard coming to town.
 
Opening day closes out with Fairfield University and Marist College at 8:00 p.m. with both teams going on the road. The Stags visit Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, MA to face ACC foe Boston College for the 40th all-time meeting. The Red Foxes travel local to Hudson Valley rival, Army West Point of the Patriot League for the 22nd all-time battle, the most games in a series for Marist against a non-conference opponent.
 
The season continues on Tuesday, November 7, with Mount St. Mary’s University remaining in its home state of Maryland, visiting Big Ten powerhouse, Maryland at 7:00 p.m. inside of the XFINITY Center in College Park.
 
The last MAAC unit to open their season will be Canisius University which tips on Wednesday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. The Golden Griffins travel to ACC foe, Syracuse to open their season at JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, NY.
