EDISON, NJ (Aug. 29, 2023) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has unveiled the 2023-24 women's basketball conference slate.
2023-24 Schedule Quick Facts:
- All 11 MAAC institutions will once again play a 20-game conference schedule, seeing every other league team once at home and once on the road.
- The MAAC schedule will be an 11 week format and each school will receive two bye dates during the conference slate.
- The women will play a Thursday/Saturday schedule from January through March, with the exception of the December portion of the schedule, which will have its games played on Saturday/Monday.
- The December portion of the conference slate tips-off on Saturday, December 16 and Monday, December 18 with a full slate of contests both days.
- The MAAC ESPNU television schedule and start times will be announced at a later date.
- The 2023-24 campaign culminates with the 2024 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 12-16 at Atlantic City's Historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall for the fifth consecutive year dating back to 2020.
Key Games:
- Highlighting opening day of MAAC league play will be a matchup between last year’s regular season champion, Iona and regular season runner-up, Niagara, with the two meeting in New Rochelle, New York.
- The New Year commences with MAAC action resuming on Thursday, Jan. 4, headlined by a date between a pair of semifinalists from a year ago, when Manhattan welcomes Siena to Riverdale, New York.
- Connecticut rivals, Fairfield and Quinnipiac will go head-to-head on Thursday, Jan. 25 in Hamden and on Thursday, Feb. 29 in Fairfield.
- Last season’s championship game rematch between New York City rival Iona and Manhattan will take place in New Rochelle on Saturday, Jan. 27 and again in the regular season finale when the two meet in Riverdale on Saturday, Mar. 9.
- New Jersey rivals, Rider and Saint Peter’s, are on tap to clash initially in Jersey City on Saturday, Jan. 27, then again on Thursday, Feb. 22 in Lawrenceville.
- “The Battle of the Bridge” games between Canisius and Niagara are tabbed for a standalone game on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Canisius and on the final day of the regular season on Saturday, Mar. 9 at Niagara.
- Facing off on Saturday, Feb. 3 and Thursday, Feb. 29, will be I-87 rivals, Marist and Siena with the opening game coming in Loudonville and the final game in Poughkeepsie.
- In year number two as a MAAC fulltime member, Mount St. Mary’s will open its season at Fairfield on Dec. 16 and will meet Rider, its former conference foe, on Saturday, Jan. 20 on the road and once again at home in Emmitsburg, Maryland on Thursday, Feb. 8.
