EDISON, NJ (Aug. 30, 2023) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has revealed the 2023-24 men's basketball conference docket.
2023-24 Schedule Quick Facts:
- All 11 MAAC institutions will once again play a 20-game conference schedule, seeing every other league team once at home and once on the road.
- The MAAC schedule will be an 11 week format and each school will receive two bye dates during the conference slate.
- The men will play a Friday/Sunday schedule eight out of the 11 weeks, from weeks one through four, week six, and weeks eight through 10.
- Notably, the men will play a Thursday/Saturday schedule on week seven, avoiding games on Super Bowl Sunday, and during the final week of the regular season (week 11).
- The early December portion of the conference slate technically tips in November on Wednesday the 29th, followed by a full slate of games on Friday, December 1 and Sunday, December 3.
- The MAAC ESPNU television schedule and start times will be announced at a later date.
- The 2023-24 campaign culminates with the 2024 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 12-16 at Atlantic City's Historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall for the fifth consecutive year dating back to 2020.
Key Games:
- The 2023-24 MAAC stanza tips-off with early season fireworks, as a rematch of the 2023 Championship title game will be played as a standalone contest on Wednesday, Nov. 29 in New Rochelle, New York between Iona and Marist.
- Action picks right back up on Friday, Dec. 1 with a full schedule of games headlined by 2023 semifinalists, Niagara and Saint Peter’s colliding in Western New York.
- When league play resumes in the New Year on Friday, Jan. 5, the trio of marquee matchups that the day will feature includes last season’s No. 2 and No. 3 teams in Rider and Quinnipiac, dueling in Hamden, Connecticut; a rematch of last season’s opening round overtime thriller between Mount St. Mary’s and Canisius, which will be played in Emmitsburg, Maryland; and a contest between the last two MAAC Champions, in Iona and Saint Peter’s, facing off in Jersey City, New Jersey.
- The first rivalry to take place this season will be between I-87 rivals, Marist and Siena, first clashing on Sunday, Jan. 21 in Poughkeepsie, followed by a date in Loudonville on Thursday, Feb. 8.
- New Jersey rivals, Rider and Saint Peter’s battle it out in Jersey City on Thursday, Jan. 25 and in Lawrenceville on Thursday, Mar. 7, in the Broncs’ regular season finale.
- MAAC Connecticut schools, Fairfield and Quinnipiac, will face-off on Sunday, Jan. 28 in Fairfield and Friday, Feb. 23, in Hamden.
- The annual “The Battle of the Bridge” rivalry between Canisius and Niagara will take place as a standalone game on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Niagara, and again on Friday, Feb. 23 at Canisius.
- Iona and Manhattan, the conference’s New York City rivals, go head-to-head on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Hynes Center in New Rochelle and during the final week of the regular season on Thursday, Mar. 7 at Draddy Gymnasium in Riverdale.
