Barr Resigns Swimming and Diving Post

Saints Head Coach Departs After Four Seasons to Accept Position at LSU

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Brogan Barr, who spent the past four seasons as the head coach of the Siena Women's Swimming and Diving program, has announced her resignation. Barr has accepted a position as an assistant coach on the swimming and diving staff at Louisiana State University.

"I am very grateful for my time as a Siena Saint, and especially for the opportunity to lead the young women of the swimming and diving team over the past four years," said Barr. "The student athletes have had remarkable success both in the pool and the classroom, and I am so proud of each of them and all of their accomplishments. I am confident the program is in a good place moving forward, and I am excited to cheer the Saints on from afar!"

Barr guided the Saints to 72 top-10 all-time performances, seven school records, five pool records, 25 All-MAAC (top-eight) performances, 42 top-16 (B-final) performances, and one major award winner spanning her four seasons at the helm.

"I would like to thank Brogan for her time here at Siena, and wish her the best of luck with her new opportunity at LSU," said Siena College Vice President and Director of Athletics John D'Argenio. "During her four-year tenure, she consistently improved our program through recruiting, athlete development, and raising expectations. Her willingness to learn and adapt has helped our program advance."

This past winter, Barr led the Saints to the program's most records broken in a single-season in 13 years. Siena achieved the program's highest point total at the MAAC Championships in eight years, and also placed third at the ECAC Winter Championships, marking the program's best mid-season finish since winning the title in 2015.

During the 2022-23 season, Barr piloted the Saints to their most dual meet wins (nine) in a single-season since 2011, while also mentoring MAAC One-Meter Diving Champion Talia Spenziero.

Barr's Saints also excelled outside of the pool and in the classroom, raising the squad's GPA to a program-record 3.78 in the Fall of 2023, which was the eighth highest mark nationally at the Division I level.

A national search for the next head coach of the Siena Women's Swimming and Diving program will begin immediately.
