Player of the Week
Kahlil Singleton, Canisius
Jr., Vancouver, WA, Holy Cross/Scotland Campus (PA)
Canisius junior Kahlil Singleton helped lead the Golden Griffins to their first back-to-back MAAC wins since 2023-24 by averaging 28.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in victories over Fairfield and Sacred Heart. In the win over Fairfield on Friday, Singleton scored a career-high 37 points on the power of a career-best nine 3-point field goals. The 37 points are tied for the third most for a Griff in a game at the Koessler Athletic Center, and that performance allowed him to become just the second player in the nation this season to have multiple games with 30-plus points scored and eight-or more 3-pointers made. On Sunday, Singleton scored 13 of his team-high 20 points in the second half, as Canisius overcame a nine-point second-half deficit to score a win over Sacred Heart. In that game, he went a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line and drilled a 3-pointer with 5:08 left to play to give the Blue and Gold their first lead of the day.
Rookie of the Week
Kevair Kennedy, Merrimack
Fr., Philadelphia, PA, Father Judge High School
In three wins last week against MAAC opponents, Kevair Kennedy scored 62 points (20.7 ppg, 57%). Against Sacred Heart on Monday, Kennedy shot 60% from the field and scored 18 points. He had seven assists and three steals. In the home matchup against Mount St. Mary's, Kennedy shot 50% from the field and scored a career high 24 points. He tied his career high making 11 free throws in the win as well. In Sunday’s contest against Manhattan, Kennedy played the full 40 minutes scoring 20 points and shooting 62% from the field. He came down with eight rebounds and added seven assists. His 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists stat line was the closest he's gotten to a triple double in his career.
