Meghan Andersen had a historic week for Fairfield, leading the Stags to a 2-0 home week. Andersen’s week was highlighted by a program record 40 point showing against Marist on Thursday. Andersen bested Sam Lewis’ previous mark of 39 set during the 2020-21 season. In total, she went 15-for-20 from the field and 8-for-10 from behind the arc and also tied with a team-high eight rebounds in the win. For the week, Andersen averaged 27.0 points in just 25.4 minutes in Fairfield’s two wins, while shooting 70 percent from the floor and 67 percent from three-point range.
Rookie of the Week
Francesca Schiro, Siena
Fr., Hillsborough, NJ, Hillsborough
Francesca Schiro came close to posting double-doubles in both games this past week, delivering standout performances against Saint Peter’s and Manhattan. The freshman poured in 21 points with nine rebounds at Saint Peter’s on Feb. 5, then followed with 24 points and a career-high nine assists at Manhattan on Feb. 8. With back-to-back 20-point outings, Schiro now has 11 such games this season, including five straight. For the week, she averaged 22.5 points per game while shooting 46% from the field and 56% from three-point range, adding 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per contest.
The 2025-26 campaign culminates with the 2026 Air Force Reserve MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 5-10 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. 2026 will be the seventh consecutive year Boardwalk Hall will host the annual championship dating back to 2020. For the second straight season, the championship field will feature the conference's top 10 teams. Additionally, with the shift of the basketball championship schedule to a week earlier, the women’s championship game will be a standalone contest on Monday, March 9, while the men’s championship game will air live nationally on ESPN or ESPN2 on Tuesday, March 10.
