CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball duo of Kaety L'Amoreaux and Meghan Andersen were both named to the DI-AAA Athletic Director Association (ADA) Scholar-Athlete team with L'Amoreaux being recognized as the Scholar Athlete of the Year. The selection is yet another academic award for the duo who have also earned CSC Academic All-District honors and spots on the MAAC All-Academic Team.
"Kaety and Meg continue to show that they truly are what student-athletes are meant to be: serious and thoughtful about their craft in the classroom and on the court," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "We are proud of them both for this much deserved honor."
L'Amoreaux becomes the first Stag in program history to be named the DI-AAA ADA Scholar Athlete of the Year, adding another postseason award. L'Amoreaux is coming off a career season where she was named the MAAC Player of the Year while also being recognized as an All-Met and All-ECAC performer for her success on the court.
In the classroom, L'Amoreaux has also shined with a 3.80 grade point average and will graduate in just three years with a management degree. She has also been recognized with back-to-back appearances on the CSC Academic All-District and MAAC All-Academic teams while earning Deans List accolades every semester.
Andersen makes her first appearance on the Scholar-Athlete team after another successful season on the court that saw her earn her third-straight All-MAAC First Team honor. She broke the program's single-game record by becoming the first Stag ever to drop 40 points in a contest in the win over Marist. She also became the 12th Stag in program history to reach the 1,500 career milestone, surpassing the number in the NCAA Tournament against Notre Dame.
Andersen also has two appearances on the CSC Academic All-District and MAAC All-Academic squads while receiving Deans List honors every semester. She holds a 3.68 GPA in Fairfield's Dolan School of Business while studying for a degree in sports business.
On the court, the duo helped the Stags claim their third-straight MAAC Championship title and earn their lowest seed in the NCAA Tournament in program history, claiming the No. 11 spot. The Stags were also ranked in the top-25 in the Associated Press (AP) Top-25 poll, the third-straight season the program has claimed votes in the national poll.
