After beginning with a six team championship field, only two teams remain as the postseason culminates on Sunday with the 2026 MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship finale between top seeded Fairfield and No. 5 Siena battling live on ESPNU. Fairfield, who has played in and won the most MAAC championships all-time, clinched its ninth consecutive trip into the championship title game with a 13-9 win over No. 6 Quinnipiac in the semifinal round on Friday afternoon. The Stags will be making their 17th overall appearance in the championship contest and will be in pursuit of MAAC trophy number 10, already owning the most in league history with their nine current titles. Fairfield will also be looking to clinch its eighth consecutive NCAA postseason berth – 10th overall since 2009 – which included the first-ever at-large bid in MAAC women's lacrosse history in 2024. Siena punched its ticket to the final after a pair of upset wins in the first and semifinal rounds. On Friday in the semis, Siena earned an 18-8 blowout win over No. 2 Niagara. As the No. 5 seed, the Saints became the lowest seed in league history to make the championship title game, with the previous low being the No. 4 seed. Siena finds itself in the MAAC Championship match for the fourth time dating back to 2019 and the program’s fifth total appearance since 2005. The Saints will look to win the program’s first ever MAAC trophy on Sunday after falling in its previous four finals. Fairfield and Siena met on March 21 during the MAAC regular season opener at Fairfield, with the Stags picking up an 11-7 home win over the Saints. Sunday’s championship game will be the third straight postseason meeting between the two teams since 2024 and the eighth all-time meeting since 2010. Of the previous seven meetings, they have faced off three times in the championship game, clashing for the title in 2019, 2021, and 2024. Fairfield has dominated the series, winning all seven tournament matchups, which includes the last meeting during the 2025 semifinal round, that resulted in a 16-12 victory for the Stags.

The winner will earn the MAAC automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
