Box Score
Marist captured the 2026 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship with a commanding performance over Siena powered by offensive efficiency and balanced scoring.
Within the opening 10 seconds, Siena’s Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Caden Olmstead, found the back of the net. But Marist came out strong and set the tone early, building a 5–3 lead after the first quarter before extending it to 9–4 at halftime. Their fast start proved to be the difference, as they controlled the pace and consistently applied pressure on the Siena defense.
The Red Foxes’ offense was both aggressive and efficient, finishing with a 51–42 advantage in total shots and a 28–20 edge in shots on goal. Seven different players scored for Marist, led by Patrick Collin’s three goals and one assist. Drew Anderson added two goals and an assist, while Peter Murray and Sean Mullan each contributed two goals to round out a balanced attack.
Siena showed resilience coming out of the break, outscoring Marist 3–1 in the third quarter behind strong play from Caden Olmstead, who finished with a team-high three goals. Conor Hufnagel added a goal and two assists to help fuel the Saints’ push, cutting into the deficit heading into the final frame.
Despite Siena’s momentum, Marist responded in the fourth quarter to maintain control and close out the game. The Red Foxes also capitalized on key possession areas, picking up more ground balls (35–30) and committing fewer turnovers (11–17), which helped limit Siena’s opportunities.
In goal, Richie Metzger played all 60 minutes for Marist, recording 12 saves. Siena’s goalkeeping unit combined for 16 saves, keeping the Saints within striking distance throughout the contest.
Although Siena held advantages at the faceoff X and converted twice on extra-man opportunities, Marist’s depth, shot volume, and early scoring surge ultimately proved too much to overcome.
With the win, Marist not only claims the 2026 MAAC Championship but also earns the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking a return to the top of the league.
