Marist’s Waumans, Owens, and Hanna and Niagara’s Imbuzeiro Earn Molten MAAC Volleyball Weekly Awards

Player of the Week
Madelyn Waumans, Marist
Sr., Carlsbad, CA, Carlsbad High School
 
Waumans enjoyed a spectacular weekend at the George Mason Invitational, tallying 55 kills on a .283 hitting percentage in those three matches as Marist picked up wins against Morgan State and Robert Morris. The senior didn't hit below .200 in any of those three games, setting career-highs with a 24-kill, 20-dig performance against the Colonials. In total, the California native notched 40 digs in the tournament, and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Overall, in four matches last week, she earned 63.5 points in 17 total sets.
 
Libero of the Week
Morgan Owens, Marist
Sr., Ashburn, VA, Broad Run High School
 
Owens shined in four matches last week, recording 78 digs as Marist beat Morgan State and Robert Morris in the George Mason Invitational. Against Seton Hall on September 7th, she totaled a week-high 26 digs while chipping in two service aces. She registered 21 and 20 digs against the Bears and Colonials, respectively. In the invitational finale against UNCG, she notched 11 digs without any receiving or serving errors, in total, the Virginia native averaged 4.33 digs in all 18 sets Marist played.

Jillian Hanna, Marist
Fr., Kent, OH, Theodore Roosevelt High School
 
Hanna was steady for Marist in its four matches last week, which included wins against Morgan State and Robert Morris. The freshman totaled 35 digs, which featured a career-best 19 vs. the Colonials in a five-set victory. In the final two matches against Robert Morris and UNCG, she was also perfect on serves, recording four aces as well.

Laryssa Imbuzeiro, Niagara
Fr., Northville, MI
 
Imbuzeiro was a strong blocker for the Purple Eagles at the Cornell Invitational, recording a career-best seven total blocks (1 solo, 6 assists) against Cornell on Saturday. She had three blocks against Bucknell on Friday. She added two kills vs. UNLV, four against Bucknell and five vs. Cornell. On the weekend, she averaged 0.83 blocks per set and 0.92 kills per set.
