Fairfield’s Mills and Theriault; Iona’s Havrilla Claim Bob McCloskey Insurance MAAC Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Maddie Mills, Fairfield
Gr., Milton, MA, Noble & Greenough

Mills scored a goal and dished out two assists in Fairfield's 2-0 week. Mills led the Stags to a victory at Canisius by scoring a goal and tallying the game-winning assist. Her score from over 35 yards out snapped Canisius streak of 530-straight minutes without a goal. She also contributed to the game-winning goal against Saint Peter's. With 24 seconds left, Mills slid to keep the ball in play and hit it up the field which led to the game-winner with 11 seconds left.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Emma Havrilla, Iona
Gr., Northport, NY, Northport
 
Emma Havrilla registered shutouts in back-to-back matches in a 1-0-1 week for Iona. She made five saves in a scoreless draw versus Canisius and followed that up with three saves in a clean-sheet victory over Quinnipiac. The Bobcats had not been shutout in 12 contests up to that point and had previously been unbeaten in conference play.

Rookie of the Week
Maddy Theriault, Fairfield
Fr., Palmer, MA, Palmer
 
Theriault scored a goal and dished out the game-winning assist with 11 seconds left against Saint Peter's. The freshman leads the team with six goals this year and is tied for the lead with 16 points.
 
The 2022 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship will take place from October 30 through November 6. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, October 30, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 3, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 6.
