EDISON, NJ (Oct. 31, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2022 Women’s Soccer Major Award winners and All-MAAC Teams. All awards were voted on by the league’s 11 head coaches.
The 2022 Women’s Golden Boot winner is, Rebecca Cooke, of Quinnipiac University. Cooke is the first recipient of this new end of year honor, after having a remarkable season for the Bobcats. Cooke, the nation’s goal leader, would go on to lead the MAAC in nearly every offensive category this season, including points (43), goals (18), game-winning goals (5), shots on goal (39), and shots (69). Against Siena on September 28, Cooke, set the individual season highs for the conference, recording four goals (eight total points).
This year’s Defensive Player of the Year is, Maddie Mills, from regular season co-champion Fairfield University. The versatile midfielder finished top 10 in multiple MAAC statistical categories, while helping to lead the Stag’s to a league best 9-1 record. On the season, Mills, ranked third in points (16), fourth in assists (6), fourth in game winning goals (2), and 10
th in goals (5).
The 2022 MAAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Year is Maddy Theriault from Fairfield University.
As a freshman, Theriault, took home Rookie of the Week honors three different times during the season. On the field this season she scored four goals: in 10 games of action. Theriault, finished the season second in the conference in goals (7), fourth in points (18), and ninth in shots (44).
The 2022 MAAC Golden Glove is Rider University’s Ellie Sciancalepore. The junior -goalkeeper led the MAAC in saves (113), save percentage (.831), saves per game (6.65), and was the league leader in shutouts per game (.353).
The 2022 MAAC Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year award goes to Ryan Louis of Canisius College. In his first year at the helm, Louis led the Golden Griff’s to a 5-4-10 overall record and went 3-2-5 in MAAC play, good enough to clinch the No. 5 seed in this year’s MAAC Championships. Louis is the first Canisius coach to receive this honor since the 2008 season.

The 2022 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship will take place from October 30 through November 6. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, October 30, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 3, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 6.
