Stats

Saint Peter’s stayed true to form, using its defense to guide them to the championship victory over Monmouth. The Peacocks, which were only surrendering 62 points per game, held a Hawk unit that ranked fourth in the conference in scoring, to just 54 points. Saint Peter’s held Monmouth to 23.5 percent shooting from the field and 15.8 percent from three-point range, which included limiting them to a 0-for-9 shooting performance from deep in the second half. The Peacocks never trailed in the second half of the game and held a lead on the scoreboard for a little over 30 minutes. The largest discrepancy on the stat sheet was bench points, where Saint Peter’s bench outscored Monmouth’s reserves 31-8.
