ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (March 9, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced that Fairfield University’s Joe Frager was named the unanimous 2021-22 MAAC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year. The award is voted on by the league’s 11 head coaches.
Frager was selected as MAAC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career after finishing the regular season 22-6 overall and 19-1 in conference play, winning the MAAC regular season title. In Frager’s 15
th and final season, his Stags posted the league’s best scoring defense (56.82), free throw percentage (.740), field goal percentage (.422), three-point field goal percentage (.328), and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.20).
Throughout his Fairfield coaching career, Frager has amassed 262 career wins and has led the Stags to an astounding 179-97 record in conference play. The Stags have finished top three in the MAAC 10 times under his leadership.
Frager helped lead the Stags to five postseason appearances, including hosting the program's first-ever WNIT contest.
Fairfield (22-6, 19-1 MAAC) enters the MAAC Basketball Championships in Atlantic City as the number one seed with a first-round bye and play on Wednesday at 1:00pm on ESPN+.
