ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (March 7, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its 2021-22 Women’s Basketball All-MAAC First, Second and Third Teams, as voted on by the league’s 11 head coaches.
The All-MAAC First Team is comprised of Fairfield University’s Lou Lopez-Senechal, Manhattan College’s Dee Dee Davis, Courtney Warley, Niagara University’s Angel Parker, and Quinnipiac University’s Mackenzie DeWees.
Lou Lopez-Senechal was a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team after being named the 2021-22 Preseason Player of the Year. Lopez-Senechal led the MAAC in scoring (19.7 PPG) and as of the end of the regular season, she ranked 24
th in the NCAA in scoring. Lopez-Senechal recorded double figures in every game this season but two; this included a 20-plus point streak of nine games that spanned the entire month of January. She recorded consecutive 30-point performances on February 26 and March 3. She also averaged 4.7 rebounds per game, shot 45 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc which led the MAAC.
Manhattan’s Dee Dee Davis was selected to the All-MAAC First Team after earning All-MAAC Second Team a year ago and MAAC All-Rookie Team during her freshman season. Davis finished second in the MAAC in scoring with 18.0 PPG. Davis recorded a season-high of 33 points on March 2 against Quinnipiac, the MAAC single game high this season. Davis also finished seventh in the MAAC in assists, averaging 3.10 per game and seventh in steals with 1.83 per game.
Courtney Warley of Manhattan College earned All-MAAC honors for the fifth time in her career. Warley is one of just two players to average a double-double this season and did so by posting 11.1 PPG and 10.6 RPG. Warley’s 10.6 RPG was the best mark in the MAAC this season. She finished tied for the MAAC lead with 13 double-doubles and scored a season-high 22 points on February 10 at Rider.
Niagara’s Angel Parker was a unanimous All-MAAC First Team selection and earned All-MAAC honors for the second time in her career. Parker led the NCAA regular season in steals per game this season by averaging 4.19 per game and finished third in the NCAA in total steals with 113. She also averaged 17.5 points per game, the third best mark in the MAAC. Parker’s 30 points at Quinnipiac on February 19 is her career-high.
Quinnipiac’s Mackenzie DeWees earned All-MAAC First Team honors after garnering 2020-21 MAAC Player of the Year honors. DeWees finished seventh in the MAAC in scoring and rebounding by averaging 14.2 PPG and 7.8 RPG. DeWees’ eight double-doubles were the fourth most in the MAAC this season. DeWees also recorded 3.61 steals per game and 101 steals overall, the fourth most in the NCAA.
The Five All-MAAC First Team honorees are now in contention for the 2021-22 MAAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year honor, which is selected by the league’s 11 head coaches.
The All-MAAC Second Team is comprised of Iona College’s Juana Camilion, Monmouth University’s Stella Clark, Quinnipiac’s Mikala Morris, Saint Peter’s University’s Kassondra Brown, Kendrea Williams, and Siena College’s Rayshel Brown.
The All-MAAC Third Team is comprised of Canisius College’s Dani Haskell, Fairfield’s Callie Cavanaugh, Rachel Hakes, Manhattan’s Brazil Harvey-Carr, and Rider University’s Lenaejha Evans.
