Jao Ituka Earns ECAC Rookie of the Year

Ituka Previously Named MAAC Rookie of the Year, Finalist for Kyle Macy Award

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Jao Ituka was named Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Year on Friday.
 
Ituka was previously named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-MAAC. He was also named a finalist for the Kyle Macy Award, which is presented to the top freshman in Division I men's college basketball.
 
In the 2021-22 season, Ituka was named MAAC Rookie of the Week a program-record nine times. He finished the season ranked in the MAAC's top 10 in both scoring (15.3 points per game, third), and field goal percentage (.526, eighth).
 
The ECAC consists of over 80 Division I schools. This year's ECAC honorees in men's basketball include student-athletes representing schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East, Big Ten, Colonial Athletic Association, Ivy League, Patriot League, and Northeast Conference.
