MAAC Reveals 2022 Men’s Lacrosse Major Awards and All-MAAC Teams

EDISON, NJ (May 4, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2022 Men’s Lacrosse Major Award winners and All-MAAC Teams, voted on by the league’s seven head coaches.
 
The duo of Marist’s Jojo Pirreca and St. Bonaventure’s Sean Westley were named as the 2022 MAAC Co-Offensive Players of the Year. Both tallied identical figures in points (51), goals (29), and assists (22) during the season. They tied for the MAAC lead in total points, while ranking tied for second in assists, and third in goals. Westley’s points per game average (3.92) was tops in the conference, his assists average (1.69) was second, and he ranked fourth in goals average (2.23). Pirreca was second best in the league in points average (3.64), third in assists per game (1.57), and seventh in goals per game (2.07).
 
Brett Dobson of St. Bonaventure was selected as 2022 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. The senior led all other keepers in goals against average (9.00), goals against (110), saves per game (16.62), total saves (216), and saves percentage (.663). Dobson was one of just two players in the MAAC this season with three games of 20 or more saves, which included recording a single-game league-high 22 stops against Saint Joseph’s on Feb. 12.
 
Quinnipiac’s Demitri George was awarded the 2022 MAAC Face-Off Specialist of the Year award for the second straight season. The conference leader in face-offs, George won 181 face-offs and posted a face-off percentage of .552. He was the only player this season to win over 150 face-offs. George also ranked first in the MAAC in ground balls average, accounting for 8.58 per game and he was second in total ground balls this season, scooping up 103 total.
 
The unanimous 2022 MAAC Long Stick Midfielder of the Year was Marist’s JT Roselle. He forced 28 caused turnovers and averaged 2.00 caused turnovers per game, both of which led the MAAC in 2022. Roselle was the only player in the conference to average two caused turnovers and he was one of two players to cause more than 20 total turnovers this year. He also ranked eighth in ground balls (46) and had the ninth-best ground balls average (3.29).
 
Pratt Reynolds from Siena was unanimously voted as the 2022 MAAC Rookie of the Year. The freshman scored 31 goals in his first season, which was the second-highest mark in the MAAC and he scored 2.21 goals per game, fifth-best in the league. Reynolds was also top-10 on the conference leaderboard in shots, recording 95 attempts and 6.79 shots per game.
 
St. Bonaventure head coach Randy Mearns was named the 2022 MAAC Coach of the Year. Mearns guided the Bonnies to a share of the MAAC Regular Season championship, the program’s first ever regular season MAAC title. St. Bonaventure finished the 2022 campaign with a 10-3 overall record and 5-1 MAAC mark. Mearns’ Bonnies went a perfect 6-0 at home and closed out the regular season as winners in their last eight out of nine contests.

The 2022 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship will take place on Thursday, May 5 and Saturday, May 7. The four-team championship will be hosted by Marist College at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field in Poughkeepsie, NY. The championship title game will start at 10 a.m. with the match airing live on ESPNU.
