EDISON, NJ (Sept. 29, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its 2022-23 men’s and women’s basketball television schedule, which will feature six total ESPNU regular season contests. Four out of the six games will be announced leading up to its scheduled date, while two contests in late February have already been selected.
For four selected Friday nights from January 27 through February 24, any MAAC men’s basketball regular-season contest on the docket can be flexed to air on ESPNU as part of the MAAC Wildcard Package.
ESPN and the MAAC will announce the wildcard game 21 days prior to the scheduled game. The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU, giving the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses.
On Thursday, February 23 and Friday, February 24, back-to-back ESPNU games are slated to conclude the MAAC’s scheduled games on ESPNU. Thursday’s women’s basketball game features a match-up between the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers and Rider Broncs, set to begin at 11:00 a.m. Coming off a 2021-22 Northeast Conference Championship title and entering their first season in the MAAC, Mount St. Mary’s will be led by fifth-year guard Michaela Harrison, a three-time All-NEC selection. Rider returns 2020-21 MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year Makayla Firebaugh and will host the Mount to conclude a four-game home stretch for the Broncs.
A men’s contest is on tap for Friday, with Siena traveling to Rider at 7:00 p.m. Led by the duo of All-Rookie Team pick Jared Billups and one of the league’s top returning frontcourt players in Jackson Stormo, the Saints have finished no worse than third over the past three seasons since head coach Carmen Maciariello took the helm, including back-to-back MAAC regular-season championships in 2019-20 and 2020-21. Rider returns 2021-22 Preseason All-MAAC First Team selection Dwight Murray, Jr. alongside Allen Powell, Mervin James, and Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson and will look to build upon the momentum of last season when they reached the MAAC Semifinals.
Games airing on an ESPN network will also be available on the ESPN App to authenticated pay TV subscribers. All events will be available for replay on the ESPN App. All other MAAC basketball home games will be aired on ESPN networks.
The 2022-23 campaign culminates with the 2023 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 7-11 at Atlantic City's Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall for the fourth consecutive year.
