No. 1 Quinnipiac defeated No. 2 Fairfield, 1-0, in a gritty Women’s Soccer Championship final on Sunday afternoon. The first and only goal of the game came less than a minute into the match as 2023 MAAC Golden Boot winner, Courtney Chochol found the back of the net off a deflected shot at the 49 second mark. Lily Schnieders sent a corner kick into the box which deflected off Olivia Scott’s head right to the boot of Chochol who sent a goal into the bottom left side of the net. Tough defense from both sides kept the remainder of the match scoreless and the Bobcats were able to walk away with the victory, securing a MAAC Championship title for the second consecutive year.
