MAAC Announces 2022-23 Women’s Basketball All-MAAC Teams

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Mar. 6, 2023) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its 2022-23 Women’s Basketball First, Second and Third All-MAAC Teams, as voted on by the league’s 11 head coaches.
 
The 2022-23 All-MAAC First Team features Fairfield University’s Callie Cavanaugh, Iona University’s Juana Camilion, Manhattan College’s Dee Dee Davis, and Niagara University’s Angel Parker and Aaliyah Parker.
 
 Fairfield’s Callie Cavanaugh earns All-MAAC First Team honors after being named to the All-MAAC Third Team last year. The Holyoke, MA native finished second in the MAAC in scoring (15.9 points) and second in minutes per game (34.4). On the season Cavanaugh averaged 15.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game for Fairfield.
 
Iona’s Juana Camilion earns All-MAAC First Team recognition after being named to the All-MAAC Second Team last season. Camilion was a unanimous selection to this year’s first team, as she led Iona to a league’s best 18-2 MAAC record. On the season, the senior from Palma De Mallorca, Spain led the Gaels in scoring at 14.1 points per game and averaged 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
 
Manhattan’s Dee Dee Davis earned All-MAAC First Team honors for the second consecutive year. Davis finished third in the MAAC in scoring (16.1 points), third in rebounding (7.9), and fifth in steals (2.4). The Bronx, NY native posted the first triple double in Manhattan history since 1994 in a win over LIU on 12/22/22 with a 13 point, 13 rebound, 10 assist performance.  
 
Niagara sophomore guard, Aaliyah Parker, was named to the 2022-23 All-MAAC First Team after earning MAAC Rookie of the Year honors in 2021-22. The Cheektowaga, NY native led the MAAC in scoring (17.0 points per game) and steals (3.5 per game) this season. Aaliyah Parker averaged 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 2.0 assists on the season for the Purple Eagles, helping lead them to a second-place finish in the MAAC.
 
Niagara senior guard, Angel Parker, was a unanimous All-MAAC First Team selection for the second consecutive year. The senior from Cheektowaga, NY finished second in the MAAC in steals (3.2 per game) and fifth in scoring (15.5 points per game). On the season Parker averaged 15.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.2 steals to help Niagara finish second in the MAAC at 16-4.
 
The five players named to the All-MAAC First Team are now in contention for the 2022-23 MAAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, which will be selected by the league’s 11 head coaches.
 
 
The All-MAAC Second Team is comprised of Iona University’s Ketsia Athias and Kate Mager, Marist College’s Kiara Fisher and Zaria Shazer, and Quinnipiac University’s Mikala Morris.
 
The players on the All-MAAC Third Team are Canisius College’s Dani Haskell, Fairfield University’s Janelle Brown, Quinnipiac University’s Cur’Tiera Haywood, and Siena College’s Anajah Brown and Elisa Mevius.
