HAMDEN, Conn. – Former Quinnipiac women's basketball standout Mary Baskerville '23 signed her first professional contract on Friday, June 30, as Baskerville announced she will play for BC Pharmaserv Marburg in Germany. Baskerville's signing ups the number of Quinnipiac women's basketball alumnae to sign professional contracts overseas to 16 (four are currently playing professionally).
Baskerville is joining a Pharmaserv Marburg squad that finished in ninth place last season in the Germany-DBBL division, winning four games.
"I'm so excited that I have been given the opportunity to continue playing basketball at a high level," Baskerville said. "I never though this would happen so I plan to make the most of every moment in Germany. I can't wait to see what I can learn from my coaches and teammates!"
A member of the Bobcats for one season, Baskerville made her impact felt in her lone campaign in Hamden as a graduate student. The unanimous 2022-23 MAAC Sixth Player of the Year, Baskerville came off the bench in 25 of the 28 games she appeared in, averaging 8.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.3 steals and 1.3 assists per game this season. Doing her damage in limited minutes, Baskerville shot 71.0% from the floor, which was tops in the MAAC.
"We are thrilled for Mary as she is set to begin her career in Germany," Quinnipiac women's basketball Head Coach Tricia Fabbri said. "Mary adds to the legacy of Bobcats playing professionally. We know she will be impactful and can't wait to follow her journey."
Baskerville totaled a team-best, four double-doubles this past season season, including a span of three consecutive double-doubles all off the bench from Jan. 28 - Feb. 4. During that span, she averaged 12.7 points, 14.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in three straight Quinnipiac wins.
Baskerville was a major key in Quinnipiac's defense that ranked in the top-five in the nation in field-goal percentage defense for a majority of the season and top-15 in scoring defense in the nation. Baskerville's 1.4 blocks per game ranked second in the MAAC, while her 40 blocks ranked third in the conference.
