Yagmur Gunes tallied three consecutive double-doubles over the weekend at the Columbia Invitational. Gunes totaled 52.0 points, 43 kills, 41 digs and nine service aces. She averaged 4.73 points, 3.91 kills, 3.73 digs and 0.82 service aces per set. Gunes opened the weekend with 16 kills and 16 assists in a four-set loss against Virginia, then followed that performance with 15 kills, 13 digs and three service aces vs. Fordham. She closed the invitational with 12 kills, 12 digs and five service aces in the victory over Columbia
Libero of the Week
Hope Matschner, Iona

Senior libero Hope Matschner led the MAAC for the second straight week with 5.13 digs per set in four matches last week. Matschner recorded 77 digs in 15 sets and converted 92.5% of service receptions faced. Matschner had 20 or more digs in three of the four matches including a match-high 27 vs. Radford last Friday. Against VCU, she posted 20 digs and a career-high eight assists. Her assist average over the week was an impressive 1.07 per set from the libero position.
Rookie of the Week
Leilani-kai Giusta, Quinnipiac
1st Yr., Kane’ohe, Hawaii, Moanalua
In a three-game weekend for Quinnipiac at the Columbia Invitational, Giusta totaled 49.0 points, 46 kills, and 22 digs. She averaged 4.85 points, 4.18 kills, and 2.0 dis per set for the Bobcats over the weekend. Giusta tallied 15 kills in back-to-back matches, adding a combined 15 digs between those matches. She closed the weekend with 16 kills and five digs in a victory over Columbia.
The 2023 MAAC Volleyball Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 17-19, 2023 at Leo D. Mahoney Arena in Fairfield, CT. Fairfield University will serve as host of the three-day championship with the opening round on Friday, November 17, the semifinals on Saturday, November 18, and the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
