Jacksonville Women’s Rowing Picked as Favorites in 2024 MAAC Preseason Coaches’ Polls

EDISON, NJ (Feb. 28, 2024) – Jacksonville University has been voted as the preseason favorite in the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Rowing Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches. 
 
The two-time defending champions, Jacksonville garnered 98 points and eight first-place votes in the poll. The Dolphins are coming off of back-to-back titles, capturing all three grand final races the past two seasons in a row during 2022 and 2023. Jacksonville finished the 2023 Championship with a perfect 42-point total, earning victories in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four, clinching the program’s seventh overall conference title dating back to 2014.
 
Marist College was voted second in the poll behind Jacksonville, earning 84 points and the final first-place vote. The Red Foxes have been the most dominate program in the conference, hoisting a MAAC-leading 12 championships trophies dating back to 1997, and earning the league title as recent as 2021. 2023 runner-up, Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University were tabbed third, receiving an identical 79 points each, while Stetson University rounded out the top five collecting 62 points.

The 2024 MAAC Women's Rowing Championship will take place at Cooper River in Pennsauken Township, NJ on May 19, 2024. The championship returns to Cooper River for the fifth time over the past six seasons, after a one season absence in 2023. Institutions will compete for the conference's automatic qualifier for the 2024 NCAA Division I Rowing Championship.
