2025 MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship Scheduled for Sunday at Cooper River

PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP, NJ (May 16, 2025) – The 2025 MAAC Women's Rowing Championship will take place this Sunday at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken Township, NJ on May 18. The championship returns to Cooper River for the sixth time over the past seven championships.

Canisius University, Drake University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Jacksonville University, Marist University, Robert Morris University, Sacred Heart University, and Stetson University will compete for the league title and the conference's automatic qualifier for the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Championship.

Team seedings for the championship will be as followed: No. 1 Marist, No. 2 Jacksonville, No. 3 Sacred Heart, No. 4 Fairfield, No. 5 Canisius, No. 6 Stetson, No. 7 Drake, No. 8 Robert Morris, and No. 9 Iona.

Top-seeded Marist is looking to return to the top of the MAAC podium for the first time since winning back-to-back league crowns in 2021 and 2019. The Red Foxes have been the most dominate program in the conference, hoisting a MAAC-leading 12 championship trophies dating back to 1997. Marist was picked fourth in the preseason poll and ended last season’s championship with a fourth placed finish. Three-time defending MAAC Champion and second ranked Jacksonville, will look to defend its crown and win a fourth-straight league trophy in 2025. Last season, the Dolphins finished the 2024 Championship with a perfect 42-point total, earning victories in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four, clinching the program’s eighth overall conference title dating back to 2014. Last season’s runner-up, No. 3 Sacred Heart will look to climb on more spot to the top of the MAAC leaderboard, having ascended each championship dating back to 2021. The Pioneers will be seeking their program’s first-ever MAAC crown this season. Out of the remainder of the field, Fairfield (2000) and Drake (2012), are the only other programs to secure MAAC Championships in league history. The fourth-seeded Stags have finished top four in the MAAC over the past four seasons, including a second-place finish in 2023. Additionally, Iona will be making its first championship appearance since 2017.

Both the morning heats and afternoon finals will air live on ESPN+ with live results available. Heats can be viewed lived here and the finals can be watched here.
