Iona’s Morris, Siena’s Williamson, and Wagner’s Arias Earn Kap7 Water Polo Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Andrea Arias, Wagner

In three games over the weekend, senior attacker Andrea Arias scored 16 goals while dishing out 4 assists with 4 steals and 7 drawn exclusions. Arias' weekend was highlighted with a six goal and two assist performance against Villanova to end the Seahawks' regular season.
 
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Lilly Morris, Iona
Sr., Southfield, MI, Seaholm


Senior goalkeeper Lilly Morris went 2-2 on the week posting a .505 save percentage and recording 10 steals. She notched 55 saves and ended the season with 237 saves and 44 steals which is good for second on the team
 
Rookie of the Week
Catherine WIlliamson, Siena
Fr., Grahamstown, South Africa, Kingswood College
 
Freshman attacker Catherine Williamson had seven goals and an assist with a .778 shooting percentage, four exclusions drawn five steals, and three field blocks in the Saints' final two matches of the regular season. She put up for goals against Marist and three against Iona.
 
The 2024 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be held at McCann Natatorium on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Marist has hosted the Water Polo Championship since 2003. The opening round begins Friday, April 26, followed by the semifinal round on Saturday, April 27, and the final round will take place on Sunday, April 28.

With 11 institutions strongly bound by the sound principles of quality and integrity in academics and excellence in athletics, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is in its 43rd year of competition during the 2023-24 academic year. Current conference members include: Canisius University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College. Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
