Lake Buena Vista, FL (Apr. 21, 2024) – The UAlbany Great Danes claimed the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Women’ s Golf Championship title this afternoon at Disney’s Palm Course.
This is the fourth MAAC title claimed by UAlbany.
The UAlbany Great Danes first took the lead on the women’s side in round two and held on after an exciting day of play in round 3. UAlbany finished with a score of 888 (+24), holding off Quinnipiac and Fairfield by three strokes.
Sophomore Lucia Esteban led her team with a total score of 217 (+1) and a third place finish while teammates Katelin Richards and Malene Calusen also finished in the top ten, finishing with +5 and +6, respectively.
Fairfield’s Maria Beltran finished the day on top of the individual standings, securing an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA tournament. She scored 216 (E).
