EDISON, NJ (Sep. 27, 2024) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s soccer league play is set to begin tomorrow, Saturday, September 28 with a full slate of matches.
Headlining conference-openers and kicking off the day at noon are the conference’s top two squads in Rider and Sacred Heart. The Broncs start their MAAC slate in New Rochelle, NY visiting Iona, while the Pioneers welcome Niagara to Fairfield, CT. Rider currently occupies the top spot on the MAAC standings with a 6-2 record and is riding a six-game winning streak. Sacred Heart sits in second place at 5-2 and own a league-most four shutout wins this season.
A pair of matches are set for a 1:00 p.m. start and they include Canisius at Manhattan in Riverdale, NY, and Merrimack at Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, MD.
The remaining matches on the docket include Siena hosting Saint Peter’s in Loudonville, NY 4:00 p.m. and Fairfield entertaining Marist in primetime at 7:00 p.m. in Fairfield, CT.
Quinnipiac will have a bye during the opening weekend of MAAC play and its conference season will commence next Saturday, October 5 at Sacred Heart.

The 2024 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship is an eight-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 10-17, 2024. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The quarterfinals will take place on Sunday, November 10, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 14, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 17.
