Iona’s Giblin and Sacred Heart’s Sousa Win Jersey Mike’s MAAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Weekly Awards

Men’s Runner of the Week
Bradley Giblin, Iona
Jr., Manchester, England, Knutsford Academy

Sophomore Bradley Giblin turned in a standout performance for the Gaels at the nationally elite Gans Creek Classic in Missouri, serving as Iona’s top finisher in a stacked field of more than 250 runners. Giblin placed 89th overall with a time of 23:42.7, leading a young Gael squad against a competition slate that featured 23 programs in the Top 30 or receiving votes in the national poll, including five teams in the top 10. His strong showing marked his 2025 season debut and played a crucial role in guiding Iona to a 24th-place team finish in a 31-team field.
 
Women’s Runner of the Week
Grace Sousa, Sacred Heart
Gr., Georgetown, MA, Georgetown Middle-High School
 
Graduate student Grace Sousa set the pace for Sacred Heart at the Brown Bear Invitational, crossing the finish line first overall and leading the Pioneers to a first place team finish out of nine teams. Sousa crossed the finish line in 22:09 to lead all racers at the meet, her third top-10 finish of the season.
 
The 2025 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships will be held at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, New York on Saturday, November 1, 2025. 2025 will mark the third straight year that the championship races will be held at Twin Ponds on the Farm and the meets will be hosted by Manhattan University for the 31st time.
