Fairfield’s Walker, Sacred Heart’s Duo of Villarreal and Hagedorn, Quinnipiac’s Gunes Honored as Jersey Mike’s MAAC Volleyball Weekly Award Winners

Player of the Week
Maya Walker, Fairfield

Maya Walker hit a scorching .613 in a 2-0 week, putting down 20 kills on 31 swings with only one error as Fairfield swept Niagara and Canisius. Walker also had a hand in nine blocks in six sets of work, averaging a team-leading 4.25 points per set. Walker blistered Niagara on Friday, hitting .846 (11-0-13) with three blocks. She added nine kills at a .444 clip along with six blocks in Saturday's sweep of the Griffs.
 
Libero of the Week
Miliani Villarreal, Sacred Heart
So., Murrieta, CA, Vista Murrieta
 
The Pioneers defensive leader, Miliani Villarreal racked up 34 digs in a pair of four-set wins over Canisius and Niagara. The sophomore libero finished both matches with 17 digs in each while adding a combined 15 assists and two service aces.
 
Setter of the Week
Damla Gunes, Quinnipiac
Sr., Bursa, Turkey, Sahinkaya Academy
 
Damla Gunes helped the Bobcats to another 2-0 weekend as Quinnipiac won their 11th match in a row on Saturday. Gunes finished the weekend with 59 total assists, 35 against Saint Peter's and 24 against Rider. Gunes finished the weekend with two kills, four service aces, 14 digs, and one block as Quinnipiac swept the weekend. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Abbie Hagedorn, Sacred Heart
FY., Omaha, NE, V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic
 
The leading hitter in a 2-0 week for the Pioneers, Abbie Hagedorn collected 29 kills on a .273 attack percentage while adding 31 digs in four-set wins over Canisius and Niagara. The rookie finished both matches with a double double, starting with 15 kills and 15 rebounds against the Golden Griffins and closing out the weekend with 14 kills and 16 digs against the Purple Knights. In addition, she combined for three assists, two aces and five total blocks.
 
The 2025 MAAC Volleyball Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 18 - November 24, 2025. The first round will be hosted by the #3 and #4 seeds. The semifinal round and championship final will be hosted by the #1 seed. The semifinals can be played between November 21-23, and the championship final can be played between November 22-24.
