Player of the Week
Amarri Monroe, Quinnipiac
Jr., Newburgh, NY, Wofford College/South Kent
Amarri Monroe averaged 22.0 points and 14.5 rebounds per game this past week, posting a pair of double-doubles in two MAAC wins. He shot 14-of-30 from the floor, and 13-for-14 from the charity stripe. He recorded 24 points and 19 rebounds on Friday night at Sacred Heart to help lead the Bobcats to a win on ESPNU, then added 20 points and 10 rebounds on Sunday vs. Iona in Hamden. Monroe has nine double-doubles already in MAAC games, and six double-doubles in his last seven contests.
Rookie of the Week
Gavin Doty, Siena
Fr., Fulton, NY, Fulton
Doty posted consecutive 20-point performances last week, averaging 21.0 points and 8.5 rebounds over a pair of games for the Saints. The freshman led all scorers with 20 points and added seven rebounds in a narrow one-point home loss to MAAC contender Marist Friday night. Doty gave Siena a chance late, forcing back-to-back tie-ups in the final 10 seconds to give the Saints the arrow. Doty recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a career-high 22 points while adding 10 rebounds in a road win at Sacred Heart Sunday. The guard shot 59% from the field and grabbed seven of his rebounds off the offensive glass against the Pioneers. Doty completed a clutch three-point play to push the lead to five with 35.9 seconds left, and then dunked home the exclamation point following a turnover on the ensuing possession.
