Donohue, Alekson, and Cox Named Hercules Tires MAAC Baseball Weekly Award Winners

Gavin Donohue led Sacred Heart at the plate in the weekend series against Georgetown. The sophomore was 8-for-11 at the plate with five runs, five RBIs, three doubles and one grand slam home run. In the field, Donohue secured six putouts and seven assists. The Pioneers fell Friday (L 13-1) but came back to win the series on Saturday (W 21-4) and Sunday (W 6-3).
 
Pitcher of the Week
Ben Alekson, Fairfield

Ben Alekson threw 6.0 scoreless innings against Richmond. He allowed three hits and struck out six batters, finishing with a 0.00 ERA. Alekson recorded an opponent batting average of .150 in the game.
 
Rookie of the Week
Bennett Cox, Canisius
Fr., Newtown Square, PA, Marple Newtown
 
Bennett Cox opened his collegiate career red hot at the plate for Canisius. Cox started all three games at James Madison, hitting in the leadoff spot and slashing .417/.667/.462. He scored three runs for the Griffs, hit three doubles and went 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts. His OPS of 1.129 ranks within the top ten of MAAC hitters this season.
 
The 2025 MAAC Baseball Championship is an eight-team, single and double elimination championship, that will take place at Clover Stadium in Pomona, NY on May 20-24. Games 1 and 2 will be single elimination, games 3-12 will be double elimination and all rounds will reseed. This will be the fourth straight season that the championship is hosted at Clover Stadium.
