Sacred Heart’s Garcia Gallego and Fairfield’s Duo of Chomow and Albritton Secure MAAC Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors

Offensive Player of the Week
David Garcia Gallego, Sacred Heart

In a 1-1 week for Sacred Heart, David Garcia Gallego led the Pioneers with five total points, scoring a pair of goals and handing out an assist. Garcia Gallego opened the week by scoring Sacred Heart’s lone tally in against Stony Brook on Monday. On Friday, in the Pios’ 3-1 home opening victory over Yale, Garcia Gallego scored the game’s first goal in the 20th minute and assisted on the team’s third tally in the 45th minute.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Evan Chomow, Fairfield
Fr., Green Township, NJ, NJIT/Blair Academy
 
Evan Chomow picked up his first shutout as a Stag by making seven saves in a 3-0 win over Monmouth University. He posted four saves in the first half and added three more stops in the second half, facing 17 shots in the match. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Sean Albritton, Fairfield
Fr., Pflugerville, TX, Independence High School
 
Sean Albritton has played two games with the Stags and he has recorded the game winning goal in both contests. Last week, he posted Fairfield's opening goal in the 18th minute which sent the team on to a 3-0 win over Monmouth. Albritton has two goals in two games for four points and is tied for the team lead in scoring.
 
The 2025 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 9-16, 2025. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The first round will take place on Sunday, November 9, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 13, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 16.
