Sophomore Sofia Bigeni led the Iona University women’s soccer team with five points in a 1-1 week. The New Hyde Park, NY native registered two goals and one assist in the 3-1 victory over Delaware State to close non-conference play. Bigeni opened with her first collegiate goal in the 36th minute and followed that up with another long-range strike in the 42nd for her first career brace. She capped the day with an assist on Iona’s final goal in the 65th minute. Bigeni ended the week playing 48 minutes in the Gaels setback to defending champions, Fairfield on Saturday.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kyran Thievon, Sacred Heart
Jr., Toms River, NJ, Toms River North
Junior keeper Kyran Thievon posted her third clean sheet of the season for Sacred Heart in a 1-1 week. Thievon recorded 13 saves in 135 minutes of action last week. At Bryant on Wednesday, she made three saves in 45 minutes in the net, allowing one goal in the defeat. On Saturday in a 4-0 win over Manhattan, she played the entire 90 minutes and made 10 stops to pick up the shutout victory, improving Sacred Heart’s MAAC record to a perfect 2-0.
Rookie of the Week
Ella Bryan, Marist
Fr., Glen Mills, PA, Garnet Valley
Ella Bryan tallied four points in Marist’s 1-0-1 week last week. Bryan scored two goals in the Red Foxes' 3-1 win over New Haven on Tuesday, recording tallies in the 50th minute and 71st minute, which included the game winning goal.
The 2025 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 2-9, 2025. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The first round will take place on Sunday, November 2, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 6, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 9.
