Siena’s Doty and Fairfield’s Benjamin Take Home Air Force Reserve MAAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors

Gavin Doty led Siena to a decisive victory over I-87 rival Marist Thursday in the Saints lone action last week. The sophomore guard led all scorers with 21 points, while adding seven rebounds. Doty single-handedly outscored the Red Foxes 16-14 in the second half, with seven of his points fueling a decisive 14-0 run midway through the final stanza which catapulted Siena back into the lead for good.

Brandon Benjamin had a double-double in both ends of a 2-0 week for the Stags. He averaged 15.5 points per game on .684 (13-19) shooting from the floor. The MAAC's leading rebounder averaged 12.0 boards per game with nine rips coming from the offensive glass. In Thursday's win over Niagara, Benjamin scored a game-best 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Against Canisius on Saturday, he scored 13 points with a game-leading 13 rebounds along with four blocked shots. Benjamin had eight points and eight rebounds in the second half as the Stags held off a late run by the Griffs.
 
The 2025-26 campaign culminates with the 2026 Air Force Reserve MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 5-10 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. 2026 will be the seventh consecutive year Boardwalk Hall will host the annual championship dating back to 2020. For the second straight season, the championship field will feature the conference's top 10 teams. Additionally, with the shift of the basketball championship schedule to a week earlier, the women’s championship game will be a standalone contest on Monday, March 9, while the men’s championship game will air live nationally on ESPN or ESPN2 on Tuesday, March 10.
