Iona’s Guerrero, Fairfield’s Weinberg, and Marist’s Wiltsie Pick Up Jersey Mike’s MAAC Softball Weekly Awards

Player of the Week
Hailey Guerrero, Iona
Sr., Bellmore, NYWellington C Mepham High School
 
Hailey Guerrero had a sensational week at the plate to lead the Iona University softball team to a 5-0 week in league play. The senior batted .611 (11-for-18) with five doubles, two home runs and 10 runs batted in.  She registered a 1.222 slugging percentage and a .611 on-base percentage for the Maroon & Gold. Guerrero opened the week going 3-for-6 with three runs batted in as Iona swept Canisius. She tallied a two-run home run in game one’s 8-2 win and an RBI single in the 5-3 game two victory. The Bellmore, NY native followed that up with a monster weekend in the sweep at Niagara. Guerrero went 8-for-12 with four doubles, a home run and seven runs batted in for Iona. She capped the weekend with back-to-back three hit games with two runs batted in as Iona won 9-0 and 6-3 in the final two games. 
 
Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Weinberg, Fairfield
Sr., Levittown, NY, Division High School
 
Alyssa Weinberg had a hand in four of the Stags' five wins last week, winning three games and earning a save all against MAAC opponents. She finished the week with a 0.93 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 22.2 innings of work. She opened the week with a complete game opening win against Quinnipiac and came back to toss 1.2 scoreless innings to earn a save in the night cap. In the Sacred Heart series, she won both of her starts and fanned 28 Pioneer hitters in 14 innings, including a season-high 15 in a 1-0 one-hit shutout in the third game of the series.
 
Rookie of the Week
Livia Wiltsie, Marist
Fr., Ballston Spa, NY, Ballston Spa
 
Livia Wiltsie hit .400, had a slugging percentage of .750, homered twice, drove in five runs, scored four, and had a stolen base in Marist's 4-1 week. She had three multi-hit games, had numerous hits in the middle of important rallies, and did not strike out in 20 at bats. In game one of a doubleheader sweep of Sacred Heart on April 7, Wiltsie was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored. She belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to open the scoring, and she closed the game by scoring the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a squeeze bunt after she had led off the inning with a single. In the fifth inning of game two, she singled, stole second, and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at six, where the score remained until Marist prevailed in the 10th. Wiltsie then went 2-for-3 in the second game of the Rider series on April 11, and she concluded the series by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the series finale on April 12. In that game, she homered to lead off the bottom of the third, and her double in the bottom of the sixth brought home the game-winning run in Marist's 7-6 victory.
