LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (April 21, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships tee off on Friday, April 22 at 7:30 am on Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
This will be the seventh time since 2015 that Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course has played host to the conference championship. Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course is named for its majestic magnolia trees, this course features elevated tees, spacious greens, and challenging water hazards. Walt Disney World Resort golf courses are operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management.
The Championships is a three-round, 54-hole tournament and the Championship round on Sunday will be broadcasted live on ESPN+.
For the men this year, preseason favorite Iona College is vying for their fourth consecutive MAAC Championship behind graduate Justin Burkhamer who claimed four MAAC Golfer of the Week awards this season. Rider University returns the 2021 MAAC Men’s Individual Winner in Austin Devereux who earned MAAC Golfer of the Week this season when he was the MAAC’s top finisher at the Battle at Rum Pointe.
The men’s teams competing in this year’s MAAC Championships include: Canisius College, Fairfield University, Iona College, Manhattan College, Monmouth University, Niagara University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College.
On the women’s side, preseason favorite Quinnipiac University is looking to win their second consecutive Women’s MAAC Golf Championship in 2022. The top two returning golfers this year are the University of Dayton’s sophomore Sarah O’Connor and Quinnipiac’s Leeyen Peralta. Peralta earned three MAAC Golfer of the Week awards this season.
The women’s teams competing in this year’s MAAC Championships include: University of Albany, University of Dayton, Fairfield University, University of Hartford, La Salle University, Monmouth University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, and Siena College.
